Finally I have my new laptop replacement, and I really mean replacement. I sold my laptop and now the N800 will be my secondary computer along with my N73.
I've been playing with it now for a few hours and I think I handle it good enough to be ready to use it fully. Time to upgrade the firmware and start putting things together as I like them to be.
I had some bluetooth issues at first startup and it just wouldn't enable but luckily it started working after a restart.
I still do have one issue though, I can't get my gmail accounts set up to send on this thing yet. Took a while to get it to receive but I finally solved it.
So if anyone knows the right settings for sending I really would be thankful. ;)
Now I have to go back and play with my geek toy as my co-worker called it, lol..
I just had to come up with something to view wepages that are so bloated with stuff that even the browser on my desktop computer chokes on all the crap it has to digest. Then I thought of that Google Mobile search thing that converts things to be more mobile compatible.
And this is what I came up with:
javascript:void(location.href='http://www.google.com/gwt/n?u='+location.href)
I just put this as a bookmark in my favorites Links folder which I have always visible as a toolbar.
Now I only need to navigate to whatever page I want to view and click that newly created link and google converts it for me in a more readable form. :)
You can rightclick that link and select "Add to favorites..." and save it with a name you like. Works on IE atleast, because thats the only browser I use. I just couldn't make it appear as a link here.
This is also known as a bookmarklet.
Just have to rant about seeing blogs reporting that in UK the N95 is mostly sold out! I'm a bit annoyed about the fact that the N95 hasn't even arrived in Finlands retail stores yet! And Nokia is supposed to be a Finnish company. Does Nokia build any devices in Finland so we could actually enjoy them before the rest of the world? Some 1011's maybe, eww?
At least I have a chance to read a million reviews about devices I've had wet dreams of and decide not to buy one after reading about stuff not beeing as good as I've expected it to be.
Well then, I'll just wait and see..
<end of rant>
Sweet, fantastic, awesome.. I so can't wait for this sexy little (as in pockets) thing to appear in a store near me. I want one ASAP! I wanted one for free but apparently Nokia didn't send me one, seems I have to use real money for this one too. :)
My past and current mobiles (all Nokia) are:
- 2110
- 6110
- 6310i
- 7110
- 7250i
- 6600
- 7650
- N-Gage
- 6600 again
- 3650
- 6681
- N70
- N73
and N95 as soon as I find one.
I might have forgotten something from the list but I think/hope the order is correct..
UPDATE: I forgot the 6310i and N-Gage from the list
I was surprised to see an updated version of this app to be available last night. Everyone just mentioned this app a few hours earlier on multiple blogs I read.
I had stability issues with the first version that I got, the app partly freezed after aprox. 2,5h of usage. The only thing that still kept counting was the time counter, the "map", speed etc. just didn't move in any direction. A pause did get the thing going again as normal tho. And all this happened to me twice during the day.
But now I'm happy to see the new version being fully stable at over 3 hours of continuous tracking.
Well ok, one issue tho, it's a bit heavy on memory, it seems to use alot of it after 3 hours of continuous logging. But I don't think the developers intended anyone to go for a marathon for several hours and run over 100km while logging it all.. :)
Thanks Nokia, keep up the good work! :)
Sweet, now I can log my working time and stuff even if driving around isn't really called sports.. :)
I do sometimes go for long walks and stuff but I really don't think that my occasional 5 km walks need tracking.
But it sure is a great app that can be used in many ways, thanks Nokia for creating stuff like this.
But how about integrating the maps from the Nokia Maps (smart2go) app if it's already installed?
What's new? I have no idea, can't find anything new or changed this time. But I'll keep digging and update this post later...
Update: Ok, they changed something..or broke something. I can't force 3G on anymore in network settings.
After changing the setting it reboots the phone, as it used to, but after starting there's no operator logo anymore and it still refuses to enable 3G as it used to do.
That kinda sucks.
Nokia, please give me back the 3G..
